PABX South Africa
The Advantages of Using A PABX Network in South Africa
A Private Automated Branch Exchange, or PABX for short, is a telephone network commonly used by call centres and large organisations in South Africa.
A PABX offers its users one number for clients to phone and get access to multiple lines plus internal lines can be used as well. Its features include normal phone calls, conference calls, call waiting message system, and automatic ring back. The Conference calls can include users on both cellphones and landlines.
A PABX network does not only have an intercom facility built into it, but it also connects to faxes and modems. Physically its size is extremely practical and does not require large amount of space in an office. It can be stored or mounted next to the server in a company’s IT room.
One of the great advantages of a network like the PABX is that employees at other branches in other cities or even those working from home can be contacted without making use of an external number. This is a great plus for large companies with branches or sales representatives and consultants all over the country.
The PABX network is the power hub of a business’ internal phone system and automatically provides switching connections between two or more telephone users. It includes its own Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) consisting of sensors, power switches and even batteries.
For the multitasker who relies on the availability of his hands when talking on the phone, the network offers speed dial and a headset can be used if the employees prefers that. The network caters for normal headsets as well.
Because a PABX in South Africa internally connects individual telephone extensions to one another and to the external public telephone network, it can identify when a phone line is busy and then reroute it back to the receptionist or switchboard operator.
Another great advantage of this type of network is that once it is installed, the company is the legal owners of the network and can operate it as they wish. The network stores all information and is able to accurately report on individual extensions regarding the numbers they have dialled, the duration of the calls and precisely how many calls were made in total. This is a great way to curb those personal calls that could cost a company huge amounts of money per year.
The PBX Network in South Africa
The PABX is basically an automated version of the PABX. Both terms are nowadays used interchangeably as they refer to the same system.
With a PABX network, users get to choose an outbound line manually by pressing a specific number, but with PBX networks the network chooses the line automatically. The PBX is totally programmable and can support complex installation or integration requirements.
Because companies in South Africa rely so heavily on their telephone network systems, they should ensure the PABX or PBX they have chosen can manage their type of business and also the ever increasing amount of phone calls that would have to go through that one network.
